Rotary die for long-run corrugated cardboard

Confidential client ·

A packaging client needed to cut changeover time between references on their corrugated line. We designed a rotary die that holds precision at 30,000 sheets/h.

Rotary die for long-run corrugated cardboard

The challenge

The client's production line suffered frequent stoppages from premature blade wear and dimensional drift after 20,000 units. Each reference required a 45-minute manual changeover that compromised delivery times.

Our solution

We designed a rotary die with carbide blades and 5-axis-machined die-holder plates. A quick-change fixture system was added that lets references swap in under 8 minutes, validated through 50 trial cycles before installation.

Results

After six months in production: die life multiplied by 3.5; changeover time cut by 82%; dimensional-drift waste below 0.3%. The line increased effective availability without new machinery investment.
